Lifelong Learning Courses

NHK Gakuen, which originally started as a correspondence high school, has expanded its lifelong learning courses to include the element outlined by the Ministry of Education in Japan which established the Lifelong Learning Bureau in 1988. Lifelong Learning is one of the most important educational concepts now.
Most of people are willing to study for refreshment, and so many others go on learning in order to enhance their lives. Some people want to study to improve their skills and knowledge, some to acquire qualifications or licenses. Older members of society are very eager to learn to make good use of their free time, too. Conducting researches into diverse needs of people, NHK Gakuen has developed various kinds of lifelong learning courses outlined below.

1. Arts and Handicrafts

Calligraphy, seal works, penmanship, sutra copying, Chinese paintings, Western style painting, oil painting, wood block printing, photograph, origami(paper folding craft), etc.

2. Japanese Short Poems

Haiku(17 syllable poem), tanka(31 syllable poem), senryu(humorous poem), sketch with poem, etc.

3. Culture and Cultivation

Essay writing, autobiography writing, Japanese literature, reading ancient documents, Chinese poem, Buddhist Sutra, etc.

4. Foreign Language

English, Chinese, Korean.

5. Qualification, Licenses

Bookkeeping, real estate specialist, judicial scrivener, financial planner, social insurance labor consultant, care-manager, etc.

6. Health, Mental Refreshment

Igo, gardening, child-care, self-counseling, Chinese traditional herb and cooking, acupressure etc.
